AQ Outdoors Beginner Kayak Course

July 17th to 19th.
(2.5 days of professional moving water kayak instruction)

Based on the successful reviews of last years Advanced Kayaking Course we are again partnering with AQ Outdoors Calgary to provide an INTRODUCTION TO WHITEWATER KAYAKING course for newbies this year!

See the AQ Outdoors webpage here for more information/a description of the course Goals and Outcomes. Because this is a specialized remote program for AQ Outdoors - registration will run through Smithers Whitewater Club.

SWC Intro to Kayaking Pool Sessions

(arrive at 630pm for a boat rinse/introductions)

If you are new-new to kayaking we recommend coming to all 3 course nights, or at least the first April 26th for basic intro to kayaks.

Sign up through the Bulkley Valley Regional Pool by contacting the front desk and requesting to register for the Introduction to Kayaking Program dates.

Boats, paddles, and skirts are available for rolling sessions loan free of charge - Email paddlebv@gmail.com to let us know if you will need gear or are interested in receiving introductory kayaking instruction.
Volunteer instructors, boat/gear/paddle loaners are needed for rolling clinics - reach out to paddlebv@gmail.com / Daniel Helm or Calder Graham through FB if you're able to help out.

Raven Rescue Intro to River Safety

June 27th

Members: $75.00

Non-members: $150.00

Learn the basics of river safety with a world-class rescue organization! Focusing on safety principles, rescue techniques and applications while boating on local rivers. 

1 day - non-certification based course

SWC Intro to Rafting

July 4th - 5th

Members: $100.00

Non-members: $175.00

2-days of introductory oar rafting instruction. Starting with raft set-up, flatwater introduction, developing to Class I-II river rafting techniques. 

We are thrilled to have the internationally acclaimed river professional - Julie Munger lead instruct this new to SWC course offering!

Ideally you will have some ability to read moving water for this course, a helmet, life-jacket and basic thermal protection.
