BULKLEY VALLEY

The Bulkley Valley boasts a wide range of rivers from mellow fishing floats to class 5 steep creeks with fun canyon runs and park-play spots along the way.  The Bulkley River begins as a stream where it passes through Houston and grows in volume where the Morice River joins. By the time it reaches the confluence with the Skeena in Hazelton, it has grown to a full-on river, running at around 400m3/s (measured at the Bulkley near Smithers Station ) for most of the summer, but peaking as high as 900m3/s in a typical freshet and dwindling to as low as 90 m3/s in the late summer.

BULKLEY CANYON

Bulkley Canyon is the classic intermediate run in the Valley, and is a bigwater river. Characterized by boily eddy lines, whirlpools and compression rapids. It can also be linked up with the Suskwa to make for a full day of paddling.

SUSKWA RIVER

Telkwa River is a class 3 river run that is paddleable from April - November. While the run itself is true to its grade, the river has many hazards that warrant a cautious approach. Wood is very common, both in the center of the river and on the sides.

EAST BOULDER CREEK

East Boulder Creek is a stunning  class 4+ creek, with 6 waterfalls packed into a very short section of river. At high flows the river is full on class 5. Wood is often an issue, and each year new trees have to be cut out, so be cautious if you're the first one down it in a while or after a high flow event.
